When rappers get tired of showing off their extremely expensive vehicles, they opt for something a bit different, like destroying them. A perfect example for that, is Puerto Rican Calle 13 rapper Rene Perez Joglar.
Apparently, the 36 year-old artist pulled off an incredible stunt for his brand new video called “Adentro” and smashed his own Maserati in pieces with a baseball bat. Yes, you’ve read it right. And wait, this isn’t all as Rene even drove the luxurious vehicle off a cliff.
In case you were asking yourself why he would take such a gorgeous car and destroy it like this, we’re going to tell that is was all to prove a point. It seem he wanted to make his fans understand that wealth is killing hip-hop.
He even stated that he bought the Maserati because he fell victim to the stereotypes and believed that if he owned a nice house and a nice car, it meant that he made it in the entertainment industry. He also went on to say “"When I started using the car, it made me feel uncomfortable owning it ... because I realized that the car stood for everything that is wrong with society ... Material goods aren't what makes life worthwhile."
Well, this is quite a bold statement as it's probably the first time we’ve heard of rappers saying such a thing. Most of them tend to buy more car and show them off every chance they get. What can we say, props to him for having the courage to admit it.
