Porsche’s dedication to efficiency seems to have taken the carmaker to an unintended direction, with the company’s efforts... falling into the wrong hands. Reports coming from Holland state that thieves in Amsterdam have been stealing Porsche HID headlights in order to use these as marijuana grow lights.
The high-intensity discharge bulbs seems to offer just the right amount of light and heat for the plant to be grown indoors and, since they come from Porsche, they’re also very energy efficient. The thieves targets the Panamera and the Cayenne models, so you may want to watch your car if you own one of the aforementioned models.

It seems that around 20 Porsches have undergone amateur eye surgery until now and this is not the only issue, as the thieves also damage the bodywork and the electrical installation of the cars in the process. The video below, which was recorded by a surveillance camera, offers us a pretty good idea of how it all happens.

Since we supose the headlights were stolen for the use of HID bulbs, not necessarily the daytime running lights, owners of Turbo models, which come with the DRLs integrated in the headlights shouldn't feel discriminated, as they thieves have no problem with this...
