Do not adjust your screens, that is indeed a new sedan from Peugeot that you don’t know about. In case you didn’t know this already, the French carmaker replaced the 407 sedan with the 508 which was basically designed for the Chinese market, where bigger is better.
So the 408 you see in these photos is a successor to the 407, but only in the numbers game, because it’s based on the Russian market 308 hatchback, one of our least favorite cars ever. This is evident not only from the side profile but also from the fact that it sticks to the old design language with the huge grinning grille.

But it’s not just a 307 with a boot on the back, as the Russian-specific model has been extensively tested and re-engineered in order to ensure it copes with the Siberian cold. The 408 underwent profound climate adaptation through repeated testing in the Urals and beyond the Arctic Circle.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
