Peugeot 2008 Previewed as Urban Crossover Concept [Video]
Now, Peugeot’s designers have come up with something new for the ever growing Chinese SUV market, which grew by 20 percent last year, triple the overall trend.
This is the “Urban Crossover Concept”, a car that is believed to be based on the platform that spawned the 208 supermini. It was designed by Style Peugeot in Paris, in Shanghai and in Sao Paulo.
This endearing yet strong crossover is 18cm longer than Peugeot 208, but at 4,140mm in length still one of the smallest soft-roaders out there.
There can be no question this concept is heading into production. It will likely compete against the upcoming Corsa SUV or the Nissan Juke. Peugeot really managed to impress us with the the new 4008 crossover, which is based on the Mitsubishi ASX. However, making the right platform for a crossover this small is going to be tricky.
This is an evolution of Peugeot’s HR1 concept shown in Paris in 2011, only it moves closer to the production form with a more conventional door arrangement.
