Paul Walker was more than just an incredibly popular actor and one of the original main stars of the Fast and Furious franchise: he was also an avid and discerning car collector.
After his death in 2013, many of the vehicles he had collected ended up changing hands, selling for big bucks to avid fans or fellow collectors looking to get their hands on what could best be described as a piece of Hollywood history gold. This 1991 BMW M3 E30 is not one of those.
According to Reserve Auto Group, which recently brokered its sale, this car actually left Paul Walker’s collection mere months before his tragic and unexpected death in November 2013. It remained in the current collector’s possession until just recently, when he or she listed it for sale.
M3s of that year sell for anything between $56,000 and $140,000, depending on the condition they’re in or the miles on they have on the clock. This particular one has over 13,200 miles (21,243 km) and, while in good condition, it’s not concours-ready. However, what it does have in abundance is the celebrity pedigree, so the mere fact that it belonged to and was driven by Walker himself drove up its price.
On the plus side, it comes with all-original paint and a clean Carfax with no accident report. It still has the original 15-inch wheels, though it sits on 16-inch Evos installed by the second owner. Another upgrade under the second owner refers to the installation of Original BMW OEM Hella European Headlights, but the car came with the original U.S. headlights that could be reinstalled by request.
The best part, though, was that the BMW drove like a dream.
“Engine runs just like you would expect! It runs and shifts perfectly! True enthusiast car with service records,” the original listing over at Reserve Auto Group read. “Impression: The car drives very tight. Everything is in pristine condition. It drives just as the mileage shows. Great investment, this car has not shown a sign of age.”
That a car previously owned by Paul Walker changes hands for considerable amounts is hardly a surprise. In January this year, a lot comprising 18 cars (seven of which were BMW M3s) and 3 motorcycles from his collection sold for a total of $1.3 million.
