Nissan Leaf Commercial: Sockets Sing Happy Birthday! [Video]

Nissan likes usually likes to brag that their successful EV is all-electric and doesn’t have a gas tank. However, for the Leaf’s first birthday, they laid down the hatchet and decided to make something ridiculously cute.

To remind people that a full 365 days have passed since the Leaf was launched onto the market, they hired a bunch of singing wall sockets to with it a happy first birthday. Yet, we have to admit that anthropomorphic art still creeps us out. Can you imagine all those sockets watching you when you sleep, and they know what sorts of electrical devices you’re using and shouldn’t…

In total, we counted 27 little faces in the commercial, all watching you when you unnecessarily leave the light on or turn the music too loud.

making cartoon electric sockets is not a smart idea. small children will think of them as something fun. and could get seriously hurt.

I hope no little children see this commercial. We teach our children that electric sockets are not toys but this commercial has them singing. Not very smart.

How cute. NOT. I DONT THINK ITS GONNA BE CUTE WHEN A CHILD SEES THIS AND BELIEVES ITS OK TO PLAY WITH LIGHT SOCKETS. MY 2 YR OLD SAW THOS COMMERCIAL AND WENT STRQIGHT TO A PIGHT SOXKET SAYING THEY CAN TALK? LUCKILY I WAS WITH HER AND STOPPED HER. WHAT NONSENCE.

Really? It was whimsical and fun and I enjoyed it. I think most "responsible" parents who want to protect their child(ren) would have already installed outlet safety plugs in their home outlets. Take time to do it, your children's safety depends on their parents ability to do the right thing for them.

Very cute ad! In response to some comments, some people find something negative about everything. I'm a parent and I don't see how my kids would make this connection since every one of our outlets has a cover. Also, I don't see how them singing says, "play with me I'm fun."

This commercial is dangerous to little children. The music is attractive to kids and it is not safe to make the sockets look fun and playful. Bad! Bad! Bad! Not to mention irresponsible. - worried mother

cute commercial but your outlets are upside down for proper electrical safety. ground should be on top to prevent shock, makes for a funny face though!
