New Mercedes S-Class to Use TomTom HD Traffic
This creates quite a problem for automakers, as their onboard systems quickly become outdated or don't provide the necessary traffic updates. They've tried to keep customers happy with better graphics and bigger screens but it's never worked, so for the 2014 S-Class, Mercedes is going to use TomTom technology.
The daddy of all saloon will come with real-time traffic information from TomTom HD Traffic. This system will alert the driver of traffic jams and suggest alternative routes. The system will also use colors to show congestion buildup. Roads will turn red for high traffic, yellow for slow-moving traffic and green if all is flowing smoothly.
The system will sos become available in the E-Class. It will be free for the first three years after the purchase but will require an annual subscription fee after that.
