Following the batch of leaked pictures we saw yesterday and the first official video, Mercedes-Benz has revealed more photos of their latest GLA compact crossover concept, due to be introduced at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show.
As we already told you, the GLA rides on the same MFA platform that underpins the A-Class and the CLA sedan and will hit the Shanghai Auto Show with a number of distinctive exterior design cues that most likely will be downgraded for the production version.
Slightly bigger than the A-Class, the GLA Concept also features new-style headlamps and laser/LED technology and shares the A250’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which develops 208 HP.
"The Concept GLA marks a new approach for us in the compact SUV segment – this is a sporty and more coupé-like evolution of this category of vehicle", commented Dr Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales and Marketing. "The Concept GLA is a compact SUV that combines its sporting spirit with the all-round qualities of a tough, leisure-time companion. 'Escape the everyday' is the message that this car conveys to its driver. It also makes clear the further potential of our compact vehicle architecture, which provides the basis for the A- and B-Class models that led the German market in their respective segments in the first quarter of 2013."
The new compact premium-class SUV will be show at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show from April 21 through April 29.
