The first half of 2014 has been exceedingly lucrative for KTM, as the economic data conveyed by the house of Matighoffen indicate amazing increases in sales, earnings and profit margin. In the first 6 months of 2014, KTM managed to reach a 7.7% share in the European motorcycle market, and the prospects are even better, thanks to the introduction of new models which should arrive later this fall, and for which pre-orders will most likely be open soon.
The Austrian manufacturer sold 70,469 motorcycles worldwide, but data indicates this number comprises both KTM and Husqvarna machinery. However, this figure is a solid 27.8 percent increase over the number of bikes sold worldwide in the first half of 2013.

Matighoffen sources indicate the launch of the new 1290 Super Duke R and the new Husqvarna range as two of the most important sources for the increase, though the small-displacement models sold in the emerging markets cannot be discarded, either.

The biggest improvement was recorded in the EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) department: KTM had 82.6% bigger earnings in the first 6 months of 2014 than in the same period of 2013, and this also led to the increase in the EBIT margin, from 5.3% in 2013 to 8.2% to date this year. KTM has also increased the number of employees, speedweek reports, with the 204 new ones adding for a 2053-strong worldwide headcount, of which 125 have been newly employed in Austria alone.

This fall KTM is expected to roll out more models, with the RC390 (top speed video here) and 1290 Super Adventure being just two of them, and which will definitely add a boost to the business in case Matighoffen can have them in stores by the end of the year.
