As rumored, Kawasaki announced a new 250cc Ninja, but it will slot under the current 300cc bike. That is, for the sake of drawing more customers who are looking for cheaper bikes with decent power and torque ratings.
Still, the new Ninja 250SL, or RR, as it looks like it will also be marketed as, will only be available for the Asian markets, with almost zero prospects of making it in Europe or North America, as these regions don't seem to be able to sell both the 250 and the 300 Ninja in parallel.

The big difference between the new quarter-liter bike and the Ninja 300 is that the SL is powered by a single cylinder, and this will apparently make it 30% cheaper. The 250SL also appears to be the successor of the 2-stroke 150RR, which is due to go out of production in July.

With a power rating of 27 hp and a weight of 151 kg (333 lbs), the Ninja 250SL will definitely receive a warm welcome in Asia and India, especially as it price and fuel economy are traditional strong selling points for the local industry.
