When you see the BBC reporting about it, you know this is not just a rumor, the boys really are back in town. Top Gear is making a significant return; only that it has a different name and an American ownership this time. Amazon Prime officially confirmed they have signed the car-world entertainers for three series of a new motoring show.
After so many rumors British tabloids spread out on a weekly basis, it almost feels untrue when we find ourselves writing about this news. Worry not, we have double checked it. There’s no paparazzi involved, no fanboys who spread out faux details on forums; this is indeed happening. Well, it’s not right now. In fact, the announcement claims those millions of people who have been waiting for months will get to see the trio fronting the new series starting 2016.
Sure, in those days the motoring series were produced by a public network. With Amazon taking over, we may be expecting a lot more of the goofy stuff next year.
And now, the press release we have all been madly waiting for:
“Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are reuniting to create an all-new car show, exclusively for Amazon Prime. The show will be produced by the trio’s long time executive producer Andy Wilman. On working with Amazon, Jeremy Clarkson said “I feel like I've climbed out of a bi-plane and into a spaceship.” The first show will go into production shortly and arrive exclusively on Amazon Prime in 2016.”
Andy Wilman is back too
You know what’s best? Andy Wilman is going to be the producer. Hell, yeah! This means that we’re about to see the old-school getting new school all over again. After all, it’s the remarkably successful collaboration between long-time pals Clarkson and Wilman that revived the show from where it was back in 2002.Sure, in those days the motoring series were produced by a public network.
