Malfunction or simply in need to replace its lights, removing the dashboard from a 2006-2009 Lexus IS 350 is a simple job you can do anywhere with minimal tech skills.
All you need is a couple of Phillips screwdrivers and five spare minutes. Here's how it's done:
First, start the car and turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to gain access to the screws holding the steering column trimming
Open the driver side door and pop out the trimming at the end of the dashboard
Remove the panel that goes from left to right under the steering column
Remove the steering column panels by separating the two halves
Now that you gained access, remove the two screws under the instrument panel that holds it attached to the dashboard
Also remove the two screws that hold the oval trimming of the instrument panel
Pull the instrument cluster out and perform any required maintenance.
