Malfunction or simply in need to replace its lights, removing the dashboard from a 2006-2009 Lexus IS 350 is a simple job you can do anywhere with minimal tech skills.
All you need is a couple of Phillips screwdrivers and five spare minutes. Here's how it's done:
- First, start the car and turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to gain access to the screws holding the steering column trimming
- Open the driver side door and pop out the trimming at the end of the dashboard
- Remove the panel that goes from left to right under the steering column
- Remove the steering column panels by separating the two halves
- Now that you gained access, remove the two screws under the instrument panel that holds it attached to the dashboard
- Also remove the two screws that hold the oval trimming of the instrument panel
- Pull the instrument cluster out and perform any required maintenance.
