Short of a Ferrari or Lamborghini, you can buy pretty much any awesome car of the moment with €200,000. Porsche will offer you the 570 hp Panamera Turbo S that reaches 100 in 3.8 seconds, while Mercedes has countless 63 AMG models for you to choose from.
If you're into 2-door cars, you're likely to be tempted by the SL 63 AMG. But hold on to your €160,000 ($207,000) sir, because there might be something better for your. Between 2007 and 2009, Alfa Romeo built the 8C, widely considered the most beautiful Alfa Romeo of the modern age.

Actually, we should have said the 8C was built by Maserati, because this is actually a re-bodied GranTurismo and it was put together at the Modena factory. Only 500 examples (of the coupe) were ever made, which makes them as rare as the LaFerrari.

We did a bit of soul-searching and found a couple that we really liked for sale on line. Both have low miles and are slightly cheaper than a brand new SL 63 AMG at €157,000 ($203,000). The yellow version resides in Waldenburg and comes with a matching black leather luggage set. Of course, all Alfas look their best in red and we found one a pristine example of that too, in Duisburg (Germany).

Just about every performance coupe made in Germany is faster than the 8C, including cheaper models like the BMW M4. But just look at this Alfa! There's a big 450 hp V8 engine at the front, covered in one of the sexiest bodies aver design by man. What's more, they only made 500 of these, so their value is unlikely to ever drop. If you buy a brand new Porsche Panamera, half your money will be gone by the third year of ownership. A sense of occasion surrounds every journey with a rare car like this one, something that's lost if you have the same German super-saloon as everybody else.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
