The Fiat Panda 4x4 is a very capable little car, for what it is, and so far all those who have had a go in it have had nothing but praise to shower it with. This is why its low asking price of £13,950 makes it an excellent deal. Even the entry level engine is state-of-the art - Fiat’s two-cylinder 0.9-liter TwinAir unit, with 85 hp. Also, to let prospective buyers know that the car is actually quite capable off-road, Fiat are promoting it like this.
A 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel with 74 hp is also available, but it costs £1,000 more, makes the car heavy and with the excellent efficiency of the small petrol engine, as well as the character Italian cars often have, we say it`s not worth the extra cash, as it can return an impressive 57.6 mpg on the combined cycle, while the Trekking model (the same, but no all-wheel drive, and a lower starting price of £12,450) does 61.4 mpg, while CO2 ratings are 114 g/km and 105 g/km respectively.

With diesel power, the Panda averages 60.1 mpg for the 4x4, while the front-wheel drive Trekking achieves an impressive 67.3 mpg, with CO2 numbers of 125 g/km and 109 g/km respectively. So, instead of going for the diesel, you will be better off spending your spare £1,000 on optional extras, yet since the car already comes with chunky SUV-esque exterior styling, raised ground clearance with toughened suspension, 15-inch alloys, and all the essentials you could ever want on the interior, as standard, you might as well just pocked the difference.
