Knowing the performance gap between the two, the Tesla driver turned to a bit of a waiting game to keep the game alive, but what happens when such a Tesla meets a considerably quicker machine?
We're back on the topic to answer that question with the help of a drag strip brawl that involves a Model S P100D duking it out with a Ferrari 488 Spider.
This time around, the driver of the electric machine had plenty of reasons to be worried. For one thing, when the Prancing Horse made the twin-turbo upgrade that saw the Italians retiring the 458 to introduce the 488, Maranello decided to compensate for the loss in the aural department by injecting a phenomenal amount of speed dedication into the newcomer.
Perhaps the only thing that could've allowed the Model S guy to relax a little was the Spider configuration of the Fezza, which does make the supercar slightly slower. As Elon Musk recently let it slip, a performance upgrade scheduled for December will "uncork" the full performance of the company's current range-toppers.
