Stockholm-based Dacia Dealer Team has unveiled its Scandinavian Touring Car Championship contender for the 2013 season. While the car looks like the all-new Logan model, the Dacia STCC Edition has nothing to do with the Romanian automaker's platform.
The racecar was equipped with a Renault-sourced V6 engine connected to a six-speed sequential transmission that boasts about 400 HP. Top speed is rated at 270 km/h (167 mph) while the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint can be achieved in three seconds. The Dacia STCC Edition, which is currently being taken to Gothenburg for wind tunnel testing, will be driven by ex-Saab / Flash Engineering driver Mattias Andersson.
"So far I have 99 victories in my racing career. I am of course dreaming to conquer the 100th with Dacia. That would be amazing," said Andersson. "This is Dacia’s third big motorsport program and the first on asphalt. The manufacturer has before raced successfully on the ice tracks of Andros Trophy and the legendary Pikes Peak race in the US. Those cars have featured the blue color of Dacia and we wanted to continue that with our design".
A newcomer to the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, Dacia will face competition from automakers such as Volvo, BMW or Citroen.
