Dacia Could Offer an MPV

However, it seems that the Romanian automotive producer isn’t planing to take its foot off the development pedal. According to caradisiac.com, Dacia could be working on its first MPV, with this being the eighth model in its range.
Dacia already has a seven-seater (a version of the Logan MCV) in its offer, but the new vehicle will come with two sliding door to facilitate access to the rear seats. The vehicle could use the same engines as the Duster SUV.
The vehicle should now be in the development stage, with a concept expected to be showcased at next year’s Geneva Auto Show. The production version of the Dacia MPV should make its debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. The MPV should arrive in showrooms in the course of 2012.
This means that we are more than a year away from the potential launch of the vehicle, so there are many things which haven’t been finished yet.
As the model will be a low cost one, it is expected to be based on the Kangoo rather than on the Scenic. However, its platform will come with multiple modifications.
The MPV is not the only project that the carmaker is currently working on. Dacia is also making efforts to develop the second generation of the Logan. Using the X52 internal name, the project is still in the early development stages, with its debut also expected in 2012.
