Our spy photographers just can’t stay put and after showing us the next generation X1 and its 7-seat brother testing in Sweden, they’re back with another set of photos, this time of something a lot more extreme.
What we’re looking at here is the upcoming M4 GTS model that was already spotted on the Nurburgring a couple of times this summer. It would appear that hot weather testing is just as important as cold weather testing even though there are slim chances any owner would ever take his car through such snow.

Nevertheless, you should be able to drive your car in any kind of weather and that’s why the testing procedures include taking cars like this to the extremes. Therefore, BMW took its new M beast to their testing facility in Sweden, to see how it can handle cold.

We’re guessing that not a lot of racing was done but the way this thing looks is downright scary. The front lip looks extreme and heavily camouflaged, while the wing on the boot is also wearing camo for some reason. Let’s be honest, that’s not hiding a lot.

Inside the car we can spot Recaro bucket seats and a roll cage which means that the driver is not all that comfortable in that cold weather. Some heated bucket seats would’ve been nice, right?

As for the performance not a lot is known. Our sources claim that the main purpose of this car will be to show people how hardcore the M4 can be when the idea of everyday usability is not that important.

Hence the removed rear seats, the bucket seats and other hints here and there. More carbon fiber will be used in its construction and the improved aerodynamics should make a big difference on the track.

The engine is not expected to grow in size or power, by a considerable margin that is but we don’t think that’s necessary. Just lose a couple of pounds and we’ll be all good!
