Troubling, trouser-ruining times for a South African driver a couple of weeks ago when he saw his life flashing in front of his eyes after having a much too close encounter with a guardrail, while heading home.
According to early reports from the Johannesburg Fire Department the driver didn’t pay attention to the road conditions and pressed the acceleration pedal way too much, especially considering the rear-wheel-drive configuration of his car.

The result was a terrible rear-end crash with a guardrail, that eventually went through the whole car from the back all the way up through the windshield, narrowly missing the driver that came out unscathed from the whole event.

The car, on the other hand, an E92 E93 335i was totaled (or at least looks like it was totaled) in the incident but saved its owner’s life in the process. In the end, if it comes to situations like this, everyone prefers that the car is sacrificed for a human life, no matter what brand or model it is.

This goes to show, once again, that rear-wheel-drive, excessive speed and wet roads don’t mix, no matter what, as Jeremy Clarkson himself learned a while back when testing the M135i.
