Bear Grylls Becomes Land Rover Ambassador

Television made his crazy courage turn him from a daredevil to a famous person, but Bear Grylls has always been a fearless adventurer. Ever since he was a child he dreamed of climbing to the summit of Mount Everest in Nepal. 18 months after breaking three vertebrae in a parachuting accident, at 23, he became one of the youngest people to achieve this feat. To prepare for climbing at such high altitudes in the Himalayas, in 1997, Grylls became the youngest Briton to climb Ama Dablam, a peak once described by Sir Edmund Hillary as “unclimbable.”

Circumnavigation of the U.K., crossing the North Atlantic, paramotoring over Angel Falls and over the Himalayas, and a journey Antarctica are just a couple of other adventures Grylls scratched out of his “to do” list.

So now, one of the world’s most recognized faces of survival and adventure becomes a long-term global ambassador for Land Rover. According to an official announcement from the British manufacturer, Grylls will support Land Rover’s activity at a global level and will play an integral part in the global launch of the all-new Discovery Sport, which will be revealed on September 2nd via Land Rover USA’s website.

“I’ve used Land Rover vehicles throughout my life, during my military career, on countless expeditions and then while filming. From deserts and jungles to the highest mountains; they always deliver a rugged reliability that you can always count on when the chips are down in hostile environments,” Grylls stated.

The British auto maker also released today the video teaser of the soon to come New Discovery Sport ad, in which Bear appears and alludes to the ultimate adventure. Bear joins an esteemed list of Land Rover adventure ambassadors that have included explorers such as Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Ben Saunders.
