And with that said, aren't we all so lucky that electric vehicle have got here in time to save everything: the planet, the trees, and even our average American pocket? Had it all been that easy...
We're pretty sure all have tried, at one point, keeping the score: how much you spent on that, how much on the other, how much on gas. We're also confident nearly all of you gave up the next day or so. Luckily, the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) is not a quitter like the rest of us...
After questioning 2,000 US residents about their habits and comparing those results with the prices for gas, the CFA reached the conclusion that the average American family spends each year $3,100. Or should we say it spends that much at the current price levels because (anticipated annual average cost of $3.70 per gallon of unleaded regular gas), for comparison, that amount was of only $2,000 a year in 2009.
The study conducted by the CFA took into account all the current trends as well. The same 2,000 people were questioned about different topics, and the results look a bit like this: 87 percent of them have a strong belief that the US should reduce its annual oil consumption, 85 percent have a worry or two when it comes to the price for gas, while 75 percent believe new fuel economy standards should be enforced. Even more, 62 percent of those questioned are willing to embrace a 60 miles per gallon figure by 2025, should the government decide to enforce such a regulation.
