The first iteration of the Bentley Continental GT Speed debuted in 2007 with 602 horsepower. Then came an update in 2012 with 616 horsepower to play with. Then the 2014 Bentley Continental GT Speed upped the ante to a meaty 626 horsepower, more than the 2010 Bentley Continental Supersports.
Fast-forward to the present day and here we are in the presence of yet another Continental GT Speed. This time around, the Crewe-based automaker squeezed 633 horsepower (642 PS) from the twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine. Other than the increase in ponies, the twelve-cylinder gentle giant produces 619 lb-ft (840 Nm), 15 lb-ft more than the previous Conti GT Speed.

As a result of that and other little mods, the sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) now takes 3.9 seconds instead of 4 clicks. Top speed? That will be 206 mph (331 km/h), thank you. Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for the quickest accelerating and the fastest production car to wear a Flying B badge.

If you want some visual twist to go with the added get-up-and-go, the British automaker is happy to cater to your needs with the 2016 Bentley Continental GT Speed Black Edition. As the name suggests, the Black Edition comes with impressive amounts of black trim inside and out, as well as aero-enhancing components, carbon fiber everywhere, and color-match door mirror caps.

The center console is bordered by buttery leather, available in Cyber Yellow, Pillar Box Red, Beluga or Porpoise. Look closely at the photograph featured above and you’ll observe that the final visual details come in the form of corresponding contrast stitching on the diamond quilted door panels and Mulliner GT Design seats. Opulence, the Black Edition has it in spades. Customer deliveries for the updated GT Speed and the Black Edition are slated to start this summer.

Paul Jones, the product line director for the Bentley Continental GT, had this to say about the latest special edition to come out of Crewe: “We have developed the GT Speed Black Edition to meet demand from customers for a model in the Continental line that offers both increased sporting capabilities and instantly recognizable styling cues. The Black Edition has a subtle but purposeful look that is backed up by exceptional performance.”
