The next generation VW Touran is already under development, using the platform and the lessons learned from the Golf 7. With prototype work beginning in May, we probably have until the middle part of 2015 until it goes on sale, but these renderings can give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.
They were made by Theophilus Chin by combining elements from the Golf Sportsvan with other models. The outcome is not terribly exciting, but any current Touran owner probably dreams of having LED taillights or the latest generation nav system.

Maybe you're looking to trade in your old MPV for a new one or maybe the family just got bigger and you're looking to upgrade from a compact – there are a lot of reasons to wait for the new Touran another year.

First of all, it's based on the MQB platform and will come with a number of efficient diesel engines. These will include a 120 hp 1.6 TDI diesel and different versions of the 2.0 TDI with 150 and 190 hp. TSI petrol engines ranging from a 1.2 to a 2-liter will be available, together with a natural gas model that uses a 1.4-liter.

Pretty much any big boy toy you can think of will be available as an option. To name but a few, you'll be able to order Park Assist, where the car takes control of the steering and uses sensors to guide itself into a spot. Active safety system will also be an integral part, demanded by Euro NCAP and the IIHS in order to receive the top safety ratings.

Of course, if the sober German design of a bloated Golf doesn't flip your boat, you can alway choose the new Citroen C4 Picasso instead.
