The 2016 Ford Explorer mid-size sport utility vehicle may be the hottest new model from the American carmaker. However, just days before its reveal at the L.A. Auto Show, a recent report is hinting there's a new Blue Oval model slated to make its debut.
We're referring to the 2015 Ford Everest, the third generation of the breed that is. AutoInudstriya tells that an insider source from the automaker's global development team told them the unveiling of the 2015 Everest is planned for the 14th of November.
Expected to boast with the same Aussie-penned styling cues as the Everest Concept you can see below, there's a little more to Ford's upcoming model than just seven seats and some off-road capability. Just like we anticipated from spy shots of test mules and pre-production prototypes, the previously mentioned source only strengthened our guesses.
As it happens, the 2015 Everest is going to borrow the same platform technology as the Ford Ranger pickup truck, but will add a Watts-link coil-spring suspension setup at the rear for improved comfort. Like it was the case before, the new model will be available with either two-wheel or four-wheel drive.
The publication's source also claims the 2.2L and 3.2L turbo diesels of yesteryear's Ranger will be reworked for the third-generation Ford Everest. In addition to this bit of info, the cabin will incorporate 2015 Ford F-150 design cues, an 8-inch touchscreen and the new SYNC2 infotainment system.
