Chevrolet has announced that the 2015 model year Corvette Stingray will be fitted with a Performance Data Recorder, an industry-first system that features integrated video, audio and motorsport-inspired telemetry recording capability.
Showcased at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the Performance Data Recorder will enable drivers to record high-definition videos with telemetry overlays of their driving experience on and off the track.
The fully integrated system consists of high-definition camera mounted within the windshield header trim, a self-contained telemetry recorder that uses a dedicated GPS receiver and it’s hard-wired into the car’s Controller Area Network, and a dedicated SD-card slot in the glove box.
The videos, which can be recorded with three data overlay options, can be viewed on the vehicle’s eight-inch color touchscreen when the car is parked or downloaded to a computer. More details are available in the official press release and the videos uploaded below.
