The next big thing in Stuttgart's transformation is the launch of a new Panamera luxury sedan. The facelift or the model that was introduced almost four years ago is widely expected to debut at a major Chinese auto show in Shanghai later this month, and we have the first leaked images for you to enjoy.
So, what has this transformation left us with? Most Porsche fans will remember the changes brought about by the 997.2 a few years back. They were so small that normal people could not tell the difference. However, the changes made to the Panamera are altogether more visible.
The car has new headlights, new bumpers and taillights that have a large split oval shape, like those of the new Boxster. It's subtle, but we think it's also good enough to update the car and ensure it sells for another four years.
But the cosmetics aren't even the half of it. Take a closer look at the photo above and you will notice the rear doors are too long. That's because the long wheelbase version we talked about a couple of days ago is real. There's a matching interior photo which proves a glimpse into a redesigned center console for the back seats as well, again, just like we expected.
The other piece of news concerns the engine range. The Panamera S will have a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that delivers 420 PS and replaces the old 4.8-liter naturally aspirated unit. Porsche will also introduce the S E-Hybrid, which works much like their latest concept, combining a 3.0-liter V6 unit with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack to make a plug-in hybrid setup.
The photo above clearly shows the Shanghai skyline, giving credibility to our claims that this is where it will debut.
