The 2014 Hyundai Equus has made its world debut at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, showcasing new interior features that will put it on par with full-size luxury cars offered by Mercedes-Benz, BMW or Lexus.
It's pretty hard for Hyundai, otherwise seen as a lower-priced value brand, to take on established segment competitors, but the South Korean automaker means business with the Equus. Or so it seems, based on what they've shown at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
The most important update received by the Equus lies in the cabin. It's actually a complete makeover with completely revamped digital instrument cluster and center console, redesigned steering wheel, new "ultra-premium" genuine wood trims, ivory leather-wrapped interior and restyled rear seat center console controls. In addition, no less than nine convenience features were added.
The exterior got a few updates as well, including new front fascia and grille, LED fog lamps, side mirrors, and 19-inch polished silver-looking wheels, while safety was taken care of with three new systems offered as standard and features such as Heads-up Display and Vehicle Multi-View camera system on the options list.
As we already told you, the new Hyundai Equus has an engine lineup comprising two units, a 3.8-liter V6 and a 5.0-liter V8, the latter good for 429 HP and 376 lb-ft of torque.
