After a few photos of the car were let loose onto the web yesterday, Citroen officially presented their brand new C4 Picasso, a compact MPV with lemon-sucking looks.
The Picasso is not actually derived from the C4 itself. It's built on the new EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2) from the Peugeot-Citroen PSA Group. The car is still largely within the C-segment parameters: 4,430mm long, 1,830mm wide and 1,610mm tall.
The new platform is made using high-strength steel and aluminum, so it's lighter than the old C4 Picasso by 70 kg (154 lbs). It's also more frugal, more practical and better looking… no wait, that last part is wrong.
If there ever was a car brand that can design lemon-sucking cars, it'sCitron Citroen. And so it's no surprise the 2013 C4 Picasso looks like it's squinting really hard after drinking some really bitter lemon juice.
The bar of lights at the top are actually LED daytime runners, while the headlights themselves are less noticeable. As if the car didn't have enough lights, fog lamps are also fitted to its pompous front end.
If you look past the novelty value, the C4 Picasso is still quite practical, with large doors that open wide and a-polar triangular glass that eliminates blind spots when you pull up at an intersection.
