Because we're living during recession times and costs must be reduced as much as possible. Furthermore, a soft top reduces the overall weight of the car, obviously improving performance figures.
And because we're talking about performance, the car is likely to be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 powerplant that will generate somewhere around 265 horsepower. Judging by the rumors, the engine will be mated to a CVT, with both front- and all-wheel drive systems to join the range.
