When people think about a Porsche coupe, the iconic 911 model is undoubtedly the first to come to mind. Apparently, the guys at the British Merdad tuning company have a different view, as their vision of a two door Porsche is a... Cayenne.
Yes, the tuner announced it is currently developing a coupe version for the Porsche Cayenne, with the project rumoured to be targeting both the current and the previous generation of the German SUV.
The name Merdad might be new on the tuning car scene, but it seems that the company’s owner has been a partner of the Gembala tuner. Now that Gembala has had to shut its business due to the disappearance of its founder, Uwe Gemballa, Merdad has decided to start a new company.
The tuner released these images of the upcoming cross-breed, mentioning that the 2011 Cayenne’s 4.8 liter bi-turbo engine, which currently develops 500 hp and a maximum torque of 516 lb-ft (700 Nm), will receive a serious boost. The UK tuner promises the powerplant will develop 750 hp, without mentioning the toque level.
The company added the project will also come with an interior that will feature multiple top-class elements, matching the car’s exclusivity.
Merdad has not released any performance specifications for the upcoming Porsche Cayenne two door coupe, but we expect the vehicle to be lightning fast. The factory stock Cayenne only needs 4.7 seconds to cover the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint, and offers a maximum speed of 172 mph (277 km/h).
