Ford Transit SportVan Limited Edition Released

American manufacturer Ford announced today the UK release of a special edition of its plain simple Transit, aimed for customers "who want to make a bold statement." Based on the 260 short wheelbase model, the SportVan promises to add some attitude to the otherwise common Transit.

The SportVan is powered by a 2.2l TDCi diesel engine, developing 140 PS and mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The manufacturer has brought no modifications to the powerplant, so customers will have to make due with the visual enhancements.

On the outside, the SportVan boasts frozen white paintwork, Le Mans-style blue bonnet stripes, twin exhausts and 18-inch "snowflake pattern" alloy wheels, shoed with low profile 235/45 tires. The body of the van received lower front and rear spoilers, side skirts and extended wheel
arches.

Ford will deliver the SportVan in only three body colors: white with blue stripes, Panther black with silver stripes and Sea grey with silver stripes.
Since no special edition could be named as such without interior upgrades, the Transit received a comfort upgrade as well. Now, the SportVan comes with velour trim, air conditioning, six CD-player with remote ’steering-column’-mounted controls, cruise control, power windows, power and
heated mirrors, leather steering wheel, tinted glass, leather gearshift knob and a perimeter alarm.

Unfortunately for those who wanted the white version of the SportVan, only 80 units will be made available. Starting price for the SportVan is set at £22,030, but it will rise should the customer go for leather seats or satellite navigation.
