Mercedes has a strong and very loyal fan base when it comes to the G-Class or G-Wagon as it’s known in the States. Thanks to these people (and their money) the German automaker has been forced to reconsider killing off this rugged vehicle with luxury fittings.
And for the 2013 model year, the G-Class has received a facelift, receiving changes that include LED daytime running lights, new exterior mirrors, newly designed 20 inch rims and red painted brake calipers. The lower bumper is also noticeably different, while he grille has been changed from the three- to a two-bar design.
Inside, the G-Class offers a new instrument panel and a more modern center console (looks a bit like the B-Class) with a large screen on top.
Depending on the market, the G-Class is offered with a V6 diesel rated at 211 HP and a V8 petrol with 388 HP. Both the G 350 and the G 500 are fitted with a 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission.
But there are also a couple of AMG range toppers, the G63 AMG and G65 AMG, powered by a biturbo V8 with 544 HP and a V12 biturbo with a massive 612 HP.
