We started this test drive by stating that some say the Bentley Continental GTC is more elegant than the
Continental GT. Well, it was us who had that opinion, but we were just a bit shy about coming clean from the first paragraph.
Our Continental GTC tester didn’t do much to help the coupe win the styling battle either, as it came dressed in a rather extrovert color: Dragon Red. Nevertheless, we really couldn’t accuse it of visual opulence, since it used a conservative Black for the textile roof.
Now that the car has received a refresh, it looks like a mansion that’s just got a new owner who excels when it comes to taste and isn’t afraid to show it. The shapes are more sculpted and the waistline is even higher than before.
And those
headlights may seem familiar, but they now come with a diamond ring-like effect. By the way, we don’t want to risk having any legal issues, so we’ll mention that the front light clusters we’re talking about actually feature LEDs, not real diamonds.
In the V8 model, that fresh owner who redecorated the house is younger than the previous holder of the place. Thus, the chrome only stays on the grille surround, while the grille itself uses a black mesh design. And the front apron doesn’t have that “private property” message anymore, now it wants people to connect with it.
We can say the same thing for the rear end, where we’ve got figure-of-eight tailpipes and a dark valance which trade a bit of the uptight elegance for the sake of sportiness.
And just to make sure that everybody gets the new picture, the
Flying B badges, including the ones on the wheels, are now red. This Bentley must be on fire then. Good.
