Zipcars Have Bike Racks and Park Passes

Nine Portland vehicles belonging to the Zipcar car sharing service have been equipped with complementary bike racks, while 40 other vehicles got federal Northwest Forest Passes and / or Oregon State Park Passes.

Just like you might have guessed, all of these vehicles include gas, insurance and 180 miles of driving, and are parked in convenient locations. Nine Subaru Imprezas and Outbacks got Yakima bike racks through the fall season, each rack holding two bikes.

The forty cars with state and / or federal passes include Honda CRVs, Honda Elements, Subaru Outbacks and some Subaru Imprezas, offering the users free entrance and parking at local parks and forests. The passes are valid for one year, through August 2010.

All the aforementioned Zipcars can be found by filtering for a specific vehicle type or by clicking on the vehicle’s description to view special features, such as a bike rack or a park / forest pass. The forest passes are valid in Washington and Oregon National Forests at day-use sites where fees are collected, while the park passes are valid at day-use park properties in the Oregon State Park system.

Zipcar is also reminding Bay Area residents that if they must drive during the Bay Bridge closing, there are 350 Zipcars located near BART stations in San Francisco and the East Bay.

Zipcar Reservations and Pricing:
  • Zipcar reservations start as low as $7 per hour for hourly only hybrids.
