Earlier this year we learned that former Caterham CEO Ansar Ali was planning to build an all-new sportscar under his new Zenos brand. Called E10, the vehicle was announced with a mid-mounted Ford-sourced 2.0-liter engine.
Well, it looks like it didn’t take too long for Ali to finish his lightweight sportscar, which will be unveiled at the Autosport International Show next month. Built around a tubular chassis and a carbon composite monocoque, the Zenos E10 will weigh only 650 kg (1,433 lbs) and will be powered by a 200 bhp mill.
This translates into a weight-to-power ratio of 300 bhp per tonne and a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint in “under five seconds”. Ansar Ali says production of the E10 will commence late next year, with deliveries to begin in early 2015. Further details and pricing will be announced as the vehicle is showcased in Birmingham on January 9-12.
“The launch of the E10 at Autosport International will mark another major milestone in what’s been an exciting 18 months since work begun on Zenos Cars,“ said Ali. “Based on our experience, we know the sector and what drivers want, and with the Zenos E10 we have worked hard to develop a fun, engaging and affordable lightweight sports car. We’re looking forward to showing it to the world.”
