The Zeekr 007 is out, and it looks like it can cause the Tesla Model S quite a headache. At least in China, where it is set to go on sale next year before it will reportedly arrive on other markets around the world.
The Geely-owned car company is extending its lineup with the 007, which joins the 001 Shooting Brake, the 009 MPV, and the X SUV, all of them released in the past two years. The launch of these models makes it clear that Zeekr wants to enter every segment out there and cause rivals a headache.

The recently revealed 007 is a Tesla Model S rival in terms of proportions, but it needs more than it will reportedly get to fight the sedan even on the local market. The 007 is expected to be powered by a single electric motor, which is capable of generating 204 horsepower (207 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm).

This should help it accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph) in 6.5 seconds. More potent variants should appear in the lineup at a later date. That is probably when we are to find out details about the battery pack and range.

The first official photos present a curvaceous sedan with a front fascia that displays two thin LED strips, alongside daytime running lights and headlights, plus an illuminated badge.

The side lights, part of the Smart Driver Assist Interactive Lights system, turn blue when they need to inform the pedestrians of the direction the car will follow when parking.

The front end goes completely black once the lights are turned off. The carmaker claims it is the first hidden penetrating front end design in the world. Another two light strips play the part of the taillights at the opposite end. That is where the carmaker mounted a clamshell tailgate.

The Zeekr 007 comes with a roof glass that uses an industry-first nano-silvered privacy dome and rear windshield embedded in the double glass nano-silvered heat insulation film.

The model is equipped with three LiDARs and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip.

The car sits on the PMA2+ platform, developed by Geely and Volvo, with an 800-volt architecture. It measures 191.5 inches (4,865 millimeters) in length, 74.8 inches (1,900 millimeters in width), and 57 inches (1,450 millimeters) in height, with a wheelbase of 115.2 inches (2,928 millimeters).

Pre-sales will start on November 17, when the car will be on display at the Guangzhou Auto Show. There is no word about the model being sold outside China yet. But it might follow in the footsteps of the Zeekr 001, which has recently gone on sale in several European markets. The 001 is the shooting brake capable of doing the tank turn.
