Yamamoto to Replace Chandhok at Hockenheim

Bruno Senna has been benched by his team for the British Grand Prix two weekends ago, but this will not be a permanent state of events for the young Brazilian rookie. Instead, driving a Formula One car seems to become a habit for Hispania Racing's reserve driver Sakon Yamamoto, who has been confirmed for the German Grand Prix in the place of Indian racer Karun Chandhok.

Due to the team's financial problems, it seems that a rotation strategy has been put in place by HRT's boss Colin Kolles in order to bring more funds to the team's budget for 2010. With Yamamoto ready to pour some million euros into the outfit's accounts quite often, Kolles seems to have decided to let him replace each of his existing drivers on a race to race basis.

Chandhok will not drive the car at the Hockenheim Ring this weekend, as Yamamoto will team up with Senna for the German Grand Prix. Yet, the Indian driver doesn't feel “betrayed” by such a decision from his team, as he reckons rotation is something he needs to get used for the remainder of the 2010 campaign.

The team have taken a decision that they're going to rotate drivers between the four of us that are on contract with the team. At the end of the day we're not fighting for the World Championship or for points and with the current testing regulations it's quite difficult for them to evaluate drivers during a season,” said Chandhok according to planetf1, citing Talksport radio.

Apart from Yamamoto, the team also has former F1 racer Christian Klien as a reserve driver for the 2010 season.

Obviously all four of us are super licence drivers, so we can't do the young driver days at the end of the season. And we missed the pre-season testing. It's a team decision and I've got to respect that. Of course as a driver you want to drive all the time but at the end of the day you have to respect the decision of the team,” concluded Chandhok.
