Yamaha Super Tenere Online Reservation Now Available

Shortly after its official unveiling, the latest product in Yamaha’s range is now available through the online reservation system. The manufacturer announced the bike will make its debut on the European market as a special edition of one year that will include various adventure features as standard and which will come as optional features in 2011.

First teased at the 2009 EICMA Show in Milan, the newly developed ‘king of the desert’ is considered to be a worthy rival to BMW’s GS range. Pricing for the UK has been set at £13,500.

“As of today the Super Tenere online reservation system is open so you can register to reserve the first available units,”
a statement from Yamaha reads. “Be one of the first to get your hands on Yamaha’s new adventure travel bike which for 2010 is only available as a special ‘first edition’ version, including a thrilling adventure pack.”

The new adventure touring bike is destined to be used for transcontinental expeditions and boasts various high-tec innovations, such as traction control, ABS and a 270-degree, 1,199cc 115 bhp parallel twin engine, among others.

The bike’s traction control system offers three operating modes. Firstly, TCS1 is the standard mode and will intervene whenever the rear wheel starts loosing grip. Secondly, TCS2 has a lesser effect to allow small slippage of the back during an off-road style riding and last, the system can be completely disabled (OFF).

The new Super Tenere comes equipped with selectable injection maps (D-mode): the Sport map causes an instant response of acceleration for maximum performance while Touring Map provides a smoother power delivery.
