Here’s a way to have even more fun with your Yamaha bike: install the Yamaha RevTranslator app on your Android-powered or iOS smartphone and get ready to begin understanding what your bike has to say. Well, sort of, at least.
The Yamaha RevTranslator is available from free on iTunes and Google Play, and it listens to the sound of your engine and translates it into computer-generated speech, using a database of more than 100 million phrases. Yamaha is really funny when they say that the app allows riders to find our what “feelings” their bikes’ engines have. The sound recognition digital engine also uses a host of pother additional factors, such as time of day, weather or other ambient-related data to produce a response phrase.
What’s even cooler is that the Yamaha RevTranslator also works with boats, snowmobiles and apparently, generators, expanding the ranks of fun-seeking customers. “"RevTranslator enables customers to take a fresh view of their engines. Although the app is meant to be entertaining, customers can use it to better understand the condition of their Yamaha motorcycles, sport boats, snowmobiles and generators," says Yusuke Tsunemoto, the head of the app’s development team.
Multiple personalities can also be selected and using the app allows customers to earn point towards unlocking mascots and other restricted content. Wonder what the RevTranslator will say after listening to a BMW or Honda. We’re definitely trying it tonight with the 990 Adventure in the parking lot and we’ll be back with a result.
