Yamaha has just launched a new ‘Cygnus Ray’ budget scooter for the Indian market, to capitalize on the increasing demand for such vehicles in the Indian subcontinent. It will make its official market debut towards the end of September, and Yamaha has high hopes for it, as it is strategically positioned to expand the Japanese manufacturer’s share of the market.
The Cygnus Ray is powered by a 113cc four-stroke engine which feeds its power through a CVT gearbox, which the manufacturer boasts is both reliable and highly-efficient. Now, aside from the technical stuff, the Cygnus Ray is being marketed and targeted towards young female students who want mobility at a very attractive price, hence the nice styling and ‘girly’ paint finish.
It will be manufactured in India, and will be priced at 46,000 Rupees (€650).
