Yamaha Announces Super Tenere Ride for Life 2010

Celebrating Super Tenere’s arrival to Europe, Yamaha is organizing a charity event for the Riders for Health organization. Dubbed “Ride for Life 2010,” the adventure ride will feature five Super Ténéré motorcycles on a journey from Paris to North Africa.

Joining the ride in the latter stages will be some of Europe’s most adventurous bikers, chosen by a jury of Yamaha legends: Stephane Peterhansel, David Frétigné, Franco Picco and Helder Rodrigues.

You can find out if someone from your country is participating by visiting Yamaha’s special Ride for Life 2010 site which will also be regularly updated with news, photos and videos from the ride.

The Ride for Life will kick-off under the Eiffel tower, by the Frenchman David Frétigné, who will lead a team of European motorcycle journalists, riding the Super Ténéré for the very first time, to Toulouse. From there, Franco Picco will take over and take another group of journalists to Madrid, where Stephane Peterhansel will join a third press group for their ride to Lisbon.

In the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, a group of adventure riders will be guided by Yamaha Dakar star Helder Rodrigues to the North African coast, and through Morocco – finishing in Marrakech, where Riders for Health will receive the five bikes.

The new adventure touring bike is destined to be used for transcontinental expeditions and boasts various high-tec innovations, such as traction control, ABS and a 270-degree, 1,199cc 115 bhp parallel twin engine, among others.

The bike will make its debut on the European market as a special edition of one year that will include various adventure features as standard and which will come as optional features in 2011.
