WSBK Test Session Hit by Poor Weather in Valencia

The latest World Superbike test session that took place at the Spanish circuit in Valencia yesterday concluded with minimal running time for the factory Aprilia team, due to the poor weather conditions. The wet track made the team pack up early, and neither Leon Camier nor Max Biaggi managed to turn laps.

"Unfortunately this time the weather was against us and this could be a problem because we didn't get the confirmation we were looking for,” Biaggi said. “In addition our rivals will also be testing tomorrow, when it's expected to be sunny."

“Now the situation is a bit more complicated, we'll be testing in Australia before the race, but if there are any problems then it will be too late to do anything. I'm still optimistic however because I have every confidence in the work of the Aprilia engineers."

Other teams present at the Valencia circuit on Wednesday were Xerox Ducati, BMW and Althea Ducati, but they faced the same problems as Aprilia. None of the teams were able to complete any meaningful running time, with the wet weather and low track temperature making it pointless to get on track.

“You can’t get too much out of a test like that when it is that cold and wet,” Althea’s Shane Byrne said in a release. “This morning I finished only six laps while we did no laps at all in the afternoon. We hope and expect to have good weather tomorrow [Thursday] to continue to work on the bike and to test some different settings.”
