Williams Could Sign HRT Deal for Hydraulic and Gearbox Supply

After a failed first season in Formula One – at least that's our perspective on things after the 2010 campaign – all the newly established teams are now looking to strengthen their technical packages for the upcoming year. After Lotus F1 Team, who are close to securing an engine deal with Renault, it's now HRT F1's turn to search for a strong partner for 2011.

During the recent Korean Grand Prix, some reports have suggested that the Spanish team is close to signing a deal with Williams F1 Team in order to use the hydraulic systems and gearboxes manufactured by the British company next year. Although neither of the two parties confirmed anything for the media, one maiden step was made by Williams earlier today.

Usually, neglecting to deny a report usually means there's some truth to it. If we are follow that lead, once might argue that Williams is indeed talking to HRT F1 about such a prospect.

The status quo has not materially changed at the moment,” said a Williams spokesman on Monday, referring to the comments made by the British outfit one month ago, according to which some teams have made “enquiries” about the company's technical expertise in F1.

We have publicly confirmed that we are amenable to supply elements of our drivetrain technology to other teams, but as yet we have not reached hard agreement with any customers. Of course we will make an announcement - or announcements - if and when we enter into any supply agreements,” he added.
