While 'matte grapes' may not be a real thing, there is no getting away from the fact that the Audi Q7 is arguably one of the least pleasant to look at cars ever made. It is a hulking-big slab of metal masquerading around as a luxury SUV.
Aside from the undeniably excellent interior (even the inside of the ashtrays is chromed), it really has nothing going for it - it’s too big, too heavy, too thirsty (even in diesel spec) and, like all other big SUVs, it is an insult to the planet we all share.
However, going over the mistake of buying one, a Chinese Q7 owner decided to make his car stand out even more, by giving it a matte-purple wrap. While we still don’t approve of the Q7 too much, we must admit that the wrap does give it a kind of ‘funky’ air normally not associated with vehicles in this class.
However, we say it’s not worth the effort, as there are better looking, smaller and much more efficient luxury SUVs out there. We will not give names but the all-new Cayenne is one of them - it looks better, drives better and despite having a huge V8 under the bonnet it’s surprisingly economical.
