We usually don't like open-ended stories, but we figured a question like this is ideal to get some involvement from you guys on a boring Friday afternoon. So, if you had to spend €40,000 on a brand new car what would be the best exhaust sound on offer?
Post your submissions in the comment section below, preferably with a nice video to prove you've got an ear for talent. Remember, only brand new cars on sale in Europe today and in stock form count. So don't mention any 2000 Subaru WRX STI with a straight exhaust or a second hand supercar.
The way we figured it, the answer has to be either a hot hatch or a sports coupe. Examples like the BMW M135i pop up. The cheapest version you can buy is €39,850 in Germany, so it's just barely cheap enough. The base version of the Audi S3 also sounds good, a little better than the Golf R with the same engine because it's got an active exhaust system.
If it's got to be a sportscar, it might as well be something with a big engine. The Nissan 370Z is kind of old now, but its 3.7-liter V6 engine sound pretty cool. It's also quite cheap, the coupe currently retailing at €32,900 in Germany.
