Webber Will Not Play Lieutenant Role for Vettel

Although everybody is certain of the fact that Mark Webber will obey team orders in Brazil, in the event this would help teammate Sebastian Vettel close the gap on championship leader Jenson Button in the overall classification, the Australian driver insisted that won't be the case this weekend.

According to the former title contender – as he is now officially out of the title race – his team is fired up to score a good result in Brazil and he's unlikely to drive for Vettel this weekend.

I doubt it," the Australian answered when asked if he will have to play a supporting role, as reported by the GMM news agency. “My guys are fired up for a good result, so we're going to come here and try and get one,” added the 32-year old Aussie.

In addition, the Red Bull driver admitted that Jenson Button is more entitled to win the championship this year as compared to his rivals Rubens Barrichello and Sebastian Vettel for the simple reason that he has won the most races this season.

He's won more races than anyone, he's done a lot of overtaking, the other guys haven't done that. He's done a lot to get himself out of sticky situations to keep his championship alive, and I don't think other people have done that,” added Webber.

Whether his comments were made solely for the media or he actually believes in what he says, we're yet to find out. However, we do know at least on eman who's not buying it, and that's his very German teammate.

I think it is a good thing not to have the situation they (Brawn) are facing, (where) they have to race each other. We are working together hand in hand and I think if the situation should come up, then I think he (Webber) is the last one to deny any help,” said Vettel.
