Webber: Schumacher Should Quit Motorcycle Racing

Mark Webber advised former 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher to put an end to his motorcycle racing career following his serious injury in February this year. The Australian admitted he's quite into motorcycles, but he'd never ride one in motor racing competitions because it's too dangerous.

“I too find those machines awesome. But race them? No thanks,” the 32-year old Australian was quoted as saying by German magazine Auto Motor und Sport.

While testing for a team in the German Superbikes earlier this year, Schumacher lost control of his bike and crashed, sustaining an injury that eventually prohibited him from making his championship debut earlier this month. The German has not announced whether he'll make it to this year's Superbikes or quit the idea.

As argued by Webber, age has a lot to do with how you manage to get along with your bike, as falling down a competition machinery looks different at 19 as compared to over-30. And that's not him talking, but former 500cc champion and fellow countryman Mick Doohan.

“Mick warned me: until you get it right, you fall badly at least ten times. If you are young, that's part of your job, but when you're older you wouldn't advise it. Michael should listen because Mick knows what he's talking about,” added the Red Bull driver.

Riding race-spec motorcycles might not be Webber's thing, but the Australian also has an injury-imminent hobby of his own. Competing in his Tasmania Challenge event last year turned out quite bad for the Australian driver, as he sustained a serious injury after colliding with a car, while bicycling. He took most of the off-season to recover, while still not 100% fit for racing.
