Watch the Maserati Quattroporte ‘Fascination’ Promo

If you want to see what sort of life Maserati envisions for the future buyers of their all-new Quattroporte, you only need to watch a small part of their latest promo video for the car, called ‘Fascination’. While we are all aware that elitism is bad, Maserati portrays the Quattroporte buyer as a mid-forties businessman, with designer sunglasses, who has a wife which is at least 10 or 15 years younger than he is.
He takes his lovely Quattroporte, finished in some sort of pearl beige, and his younger lover to the mountains. Then, for some reason, they are separated. He then stalks her, goes to a business meeting, before they are reunited. The story may be innocent at first, but it promotes some very harmful images, and it already chooses the life the owner is set to live, and it makes the prospective owners of the Quattroporte already have that idea firmly instilled into their thinking.

Ads are powerful, and Maserati knows this. They could have chosen some other type of marketing strategy, which would have done the stunning new Quattroporte justice. The name itself has a really rich history, so perhaps they could have done something about that. The car, is all new and very advanced, technologically speaking. It gets new turbocharged V6 and V8 engines, yet this is not mentioned.

The car has not received its official pricing information for any other market, aside from the UK, where it starts at £80,070 / $129,000 / €96,000 for the V6, which can now be had with all-wheel drive. The V8 starts at £108,125 / $174,000 / €130,000.
