While the Dubai Police uses its supercar fleet to patrol the streets of the city in image-related purposes, they are not the only law enforcement unit in the United Arab Emirates to possess such machines. In fact, the Abu Dhabi police even puts its go-fast rides to work. Drag racing work, that is.
As always with action involving police cars, the battle is not necessarily a fair one. Still, this doesn’t take away one inch of the fun. The clip below, which comes from PP-Performance, shows a Camaro SS pitted against a Nissan GT-R.

The Camaro is part of the current generation, being a pre-revamp models. Its party trick? A decent burnout ahead of the run, obviously - the officer seems pretty pleased with his mission.

As for the GT-R, this seems to belong to the early model years of the current generation, before 2012, when Nissan introduced the LED daytime running lights, accessorizing them with a power upgrade to 530 horses. The Abu Dhabi exotic police car fleet was launched in 2009, so this is probably the GT-R from that year.

The Christmas tree act is used, so the GT-R’s all-wheel drive comes into play, albeit without the policeman resorting to the launch control feature. Even so, the Camaro is no match for Godzilla.

Let’s not allow ourselves to be fooled though - the Abu Dhabi police officers had been driving these two for years, so we’re pretty sure the outcome of the drag race was not a surprise. We can also be certain they knew just how much of a show they were offering to the attenders, most of which are UAE citizens.
