Tug of War is silly enough on its own (read: when SUVs play it), but when you add a Corvette to the equation, the ridiculousness reaches a level that’s impossible to expect, even when one is prepared for watching redneck activities.
This is exactly what takes place in the clip below, which shows a C5 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 battling it out with a 1990s Chevy Blazer. We don’t normally talk about the outcome of such fights, leaving this job to the footage, but we’ll make an exception in this case, since we have to explain a few things.

We hope you didn’t make any bet and put your money on the ‘Vette, because the sportscar lost. Yes, that’s right, the beaten-up SUV managed to overcome the Z06.

Why the Corvette lost

As you can see in the footage, the Blazer runs in RWD mode, so, as far as this part in concerned, the fight is fair. However, the secret lies within the strap and this bought a double disadvantage for the sportscar.

First of all, while the Blazer sees the strap tied in a central position, there’s a serious offset when it comes to the Corvette. Basic physics teaches us this splits the Corvette’s effort, so only a part of it is used for pulling the SUV straight, the bit that matters in this competition.

Moreover, the Blazer has its two strap placed considerably higher. This directs a part of its force towards lifting the Corvette off the ground, which obviously affects traction. Aside from this, the sportscar driver seems to be a bit overenthusiastic with the revs, a mistake the people in the losing cars sometimes make.

Perhaps the Corvette guy should’ve known better than to wear and tear his ride while competing against a car you can get for under $1,000.
